email ads
I have a habit of taking screenshots of the email ads I get from various stores and blogs with the thought that at some point in the future I could reference it for inspiration or help with typography. This came today from Anthropologie and I thought it was pretty awesome.
My favorite kinds of images are usually full of dark, rich colors and lots of contrast. I looooove contrast… +20 magenta was me in the darkroom a million years ago.

DIY Stuff
I made a chevron rug for our place when we moved in but forgot I had taken a picture of it. The stripes are all a little uneven because
1.) I used the bootleg duct tape strips method instead of a stencil and
2.) halfway through I gave up on keeping them measured correctly
Either way it was super cheap and nicely fills in part of my living room. I used about 2 cans of Krylon spray paint and 1 of spray polyurethane on a 5.5’x8.5’ canvas drop cloth from home depot. I also found out last weekend that it’s machine washable (kind of a gamble but I kept it on cold then let it air dry and it was fine). The color is fading from daily wear but it would be easy to touch it up if I wanted.
These are some Mexican tiles we got from a gift shop in Arizona a few months ago and were only maybe $1.50 each. I glued some felt to the backs and now they’re an awesome set of coasters!
Following People On Tumblr
Tumblr does this stupid thing where it lets you have multiple accounts on the same email but you can only use the main account to follow people back. So anyway, if you’re following me, I would follow you back on this tumblr but I can’t. Sorry!
OpenCart
I am having a really good time using OpenCart today. Seriously. How about those .tpl files amiright?! So far it’s as easy as making or editing a WordPress theme.

Neutral Colors & Gold
More nail art! I did these three days ago so they have some scratches. I wasn’t originally planning to put the lines on the bottom but then I discovered how much I dislike the french tip style and had to do something about it.
I just saw this yesterday, thought it was cool.
Just finished Julie’s website www.8Balloons.com. It’s pretty exciting getting things like dynamic sidebars and unique post backgrounds to work as well as solving IE problems. Now all that’s left is to get type kit and pick a better font than arial/arial black. Maybe this is an ignorant and overly obvious question, but if so many people hate IE for the never ending list of reasons, why don’t the developers do something about it so that it doesn’t suck so bad?
